Members of the Bayou Vista Garden Club recently held a workday in Bayou Vista. Planting beds at the Bayou Vista Community Center gazebo and the Bayou Vista Landmark and marquee on Southeast Boulevard were weeded and mulched. The base of the trees along Southeast Boulevard were also weeded and mulched. Spring Planting -- April, 2017
Members of the Bayou Vista Garden Club recently weeded, pruned, and installed seasonal plants (caladium, celosia, verbena, golden variegated sweet flag) at the Bayou Vista Landmark on Southeast Boulevard. The flowerbeds at the Bayou Vista Marquee on Southeast Boulevard and Bayou Vista Community Center Gazebo were weeded and plantings were pruned.

Bayou Vista Southeast Blvd. & Bayou Vista Community Center
Members of the Bayou Vista Garden Club Civic Development Committee partnered with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office to replace and mulch trees and shrubs on Southeast Boulevard and at the Bayou Vista Community Center. Plantings included in this BVGC project were 6 crape myrtles, 6 ornamental magnolia, 10 Nanina domestica, and 10 Indian Hawthorne.

Members of the Bayou Vista Garden Club Civic Development Committee recently installed seasonal plants at the Bayou Vista Landmark on Southeast Boulevard-- Sallyfun Salvia (Salvia farinacea), Dwarf Snapdragon (Antirrhinum majus), and petunia. The trees along Southeast Boulevard and Bayou Vista Branch Library and the rose bushes at the Bayou Vista Community Center marquee were weeded and mulched. Assisting in the workday were St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office trustees supervised by Lieutenant Phillip Bourgeois, Captain John Kahl, and Major Gary Driskill.

Boulevard in Bayou Vista by spreading mulch and pruning the trees. The flowerbeds
around the Landmark, Blue Star Marker, and Bayou Vista Community Center Marquee
and Gazebo were also weeded and groomed.

BVGC Civic Development Committee members weed, plant, and mulch at the Bayou Vista Community Center Gazebo. Additions to the beds were two double-red knockout rose bushes and Amarillo's. Southeast Boulevard Fall Planting November, 2013
Members of the Bayou Vista Garden Club Civic Development Committee installed new plants at the Bayou Vista Landmark on Southeast Boulevard. This was the culmination of the project to eradicate the invasive torpedo grass (Panicum repens L.) which grows from rhizomes below ground. Both manual and chemical controls have been applied over the past year. New plantings include Dwarf Bottlebrush (Callistemon citrinus 'Little John'), deciduous shrub which attracts hummingbirds; Firepower Nandina (Nandina domestica 'Firepower'); Lily of the Nile (agapanthus), Aztec grass (Liriope muscari; snapdragons (Antirrhinum majus); and petunias (Petunia).
